11-01-08 Camp out: 2nd annual Fire Side Chat attendees: Steve (Gandalf the Grey), Nachoooo, Gimli, Kevin (mariadock), Alex (treebeard), David, Neal, Bilbo, Samwise, Alan (Théoden), Frodo, Boromir We went to Camp Doris in the Wichita Mountains to spend the weekend Hanging out with other men and learning about Christ. On Saturday night we had started a tradition of a fire side chat where we sit around the camp fire and discuss the Bible and how it applies to our lives. Boromir led the discussion this year. Key Verse: John 10:1-21 The question was asked where are you preventing you from being closer to God? and how can the tribe help you overcome your distraction of being closer to God? Gandalf-anger issues with my ex-wife--Pray for him and his ex-wife Nachoooo- focusing on the negative--help him see the positive in things Mariadock-anger and wishing bad things on people--pray for less anger Gimli-patience and anger--prayer that I stay the course Treebeard-loneliness--stay around friends---IF GOD IS WITH US WHO CAN BE AGAINST US David-anger--prayer and more encouragement to do good Neal-anger--keep being his friends to help him change for the better Bilbo--Problems with his Dad--to be fathers for him to offer advise when he needs it!!!! Samwise-zero confidence--continue being a tribe of changing men's lives Théoden-getting rid of the crap--making him accountable for his actions Frodo-Imposter-keep building him up Boromir-gluttony-help me accountable for what I eat. As you can tell we have inducted three new members into the tribe. We welcome them and can not wait to see the change that happens with them. 11-4-08 Attendees: Nachoooo, Legolas, Frodo, Treebeard, Gimli, Pippin, Théoden, Denny (guest), Bilbo, Boromir, Neal, David, Eomer, Mariadock Key Verse: 1 Cor. 12:1-11 We talked about what spiritual gifts the each one of us have. These gifts were given to us by God to better the church. Neal-Not really I need to put HIM first more often. If we think that we can fight Satan without reloading then we are stupid. We must NOT be the person who is a Christian but not look or act like it. As a leader of the household we as men should lead by example, and not be a dictator—Neal CHALLENGE THIS WEEK: What would happen if we did the dishes on thanksgiving??? or what can you do to blow the socks off your kids or your spouse???
